A former senior producer at state broadcaster TVM has been arrested on suspicion of grooming and sexually assaulting a child.

The suspect, Moosal Mueen (37), from Rihidhoadhi/G.Dh. Fiyoari was arrested in connection with the case.

According to police, he is accused of making inappropriate remarks to a minor, attempting to groom and exploit the child, storing and possessing child sexual abuse material on electronic devices, and engaging in sexual conduct with minors.

He was arrested on Thursday.

Sun has learned that he was recently dismissed from his position over the issue. Mueen had been one of TVM’s senior producers and was involved in producing several popular children’s programmes.

Police said he was produced before the court on Thursday for a remand hearing, and was ordered to remain in custody for 15 days.

Police reiterated that all criminal cases involving children, including the possession or dissemination of pornographic material, are investigated and prosecuted with special priority.

The case is being investigated by the Family and Child Protection Department.
