The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has officially commenced the development of a new sports park in Hulhumale Phase I, situated conveniently near the Fiyavathi children's shelter. This project underscores the government's strategic focus on increasing accessible sports facilities and fostering healthier, more active lifestyles for the residents of the island. By incorporating a diverse range of sports courts, including futsal, volleyball, and basketball, the facility is designed to meet the growing recreational needs of the community. The development is currently underway, with the construction timeline targeting a completion date in April.
Work has begun on developing a Sports Park in Hulhumale’ Phase I.
The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) broke ground on the project in a ceremony held on Sunday.
The Sports Park is being developed on the land adjacent to the children’s shelter, Fiyavathi.
According to HDC, the park being developed as part of the government’s efforts to boost to increase sports centers, and promote social wellbeing among residents of Hulhumale’.
HDC said that the Sports Park will have a futsal court, volleyball court, and a half basketball court, as well as a parking zone.
The corporation aims to complete the project by April.
HDC also recently opened a multi-sports complex in Hulhumale’ Phase II.
HDC said it believes the sports complex ease the current challenges in booking sports courts in Hulhumale’, and also promote fitness and social wellbeing among Hulhumale’ residents.
The corporation said it is also working on developing more sports facilities and outdoor gyms in Hulhumale’.
